How will this affect my school?
The state of Arizona has slashed school budgets and has frozen funding for new school construction. School districts will also not receive funds intended to assist districts in upkeeping older schools.
The Governing Boards of each district have had to make decisions. In a growing district with overcrowded schools, the decision was clear. The district needs these funds to renovate older schools and to move forward with already planned new school construction.
Without these funds the district will have to continue to increase the number of students at already overcrowded schools. According to the schools public information sheet, "Depending upon the continued student growth, the district may need to explore alternative options for the scheduling of students to utilize existing schools. These options may include: frequent boundary changes, double attendance sessions, multi-track sessions of students, increase in double bus runs, further reduction of Community Education Preschools, and a delay of school renovations. ..."
